Need Advice on Kiteboarding destinations

Post by scully »

I am trying to plan a Kiteboarding trip this spring/summer to a tropical destination. I would like to be there for 1-2 months. My choices for months are April and May or July and August. Please help me pick a great place that has the following prerequisites:

1) Tropical weather (island feel)
2) Friendly people
3) Flat water and waves
4) Numerous sites to ride
5) Consistent wind

I am an intermediate rider at the moment. I hope to improve my skills while on the trip.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Join us in S. Padre April 9-17. Flat water in the Lagooona Madre and ocean swell a block away. It's post spring break and the weather/winds are great.

There are houses/flats to rent very nearby and kiters come in from all over during this time. It is really a great location with remarkable riding options. There is also a local kite shop http://www.airpadrekiteboarding.com/sou ... texas.html to cater to your needs.

Cool you have some time to dedicate to the sport. You will find some great options for destinations. Consider viewing the Destinations section under the Community link for past reviews.

If you're an intermediate looking to improve ...Padre.
Not beautiful but beautiful kiting. Relatively cheap and lots of Lakawa people to hang out with, I bet 30 of us make the trip every spring.
