Hey STeve. If the wind is SE its a no brainer for cleaner and much stronger winds. On Sunday when we were struggeling with 14 - 16m kites they were ripping on 11m kites, we made it to holly for the afternoon session and had a good ripping day without the holes that north flats had. Its the same drive as to the old holly - Head towards the golf course past Laguna Vista(right at the stop light) Right after the golf course (and white fence) turn right - it will go past a storage fenced in area of campers. COntinue down teh main gravel until you spot a house on the water - look for the sign and the carpet on the beach area. Stay off the dock and respect the private house - pay the 25 dollar and sign the waiver and your good to go. TO get more info stop in and talk to Rob at the furniture shop off the main drag. I know it seems like additional cost to ride there , keep in mind that its a low maintenance road and much better riding than north flats. Warnings of Holly though include stingrays and of course the sharp shells in the water will cut up your feet. See ya soon

You sure about that Scott. Thought when I got stung the advice was to take a cold bath to limit the spread to the rest of the body. I may be wrong.

It worked out great for because my knee was recovering from a hyperextension and it just numbed the entire leg.

To avoid getting stung, the best advice is to shuffle the feet in the shallows.

I am positive, the heat neutralizes the toxin that they inject into you and it stops the pain insatntly, cold pack will make the pain worse.

Shuffle your feet AND wear booties! We found alot of broken glass, crap from the last hurricane, and there is barbed wire & cactus @ Holly. You don't want a wound, infection, or injury to spoil your trip. We also encountered Red Tide and schools of jellies on the gulf-side. Play safe. Mom Nature plays for keeps!

It is an algae that sometimes over reproduces to the extent that it floats on the surface, and is atomized into the air, so when you breathe, it irritates the throat. Within seconds of exiting the car. we were all coughing. Not a biggie, just an annoyance having to clear your throat while outdoors. It does kill, but only shellfish, or people who eat the shellfish it killed. Did I mention guys who were pulling broken shiner bottles out of their booties, got barbed by a ray, while floating in a sea of jellies?

What happened to the SPI I used to know? Sounds like a freakin' war zone down there. May explain the cheap hotel stay though!

Anyone know if Midwest Mountaineering still have booties in stock? I will have to pick some up for Jodie before we leave.

See ya all down there as of next Tues!
Rock on
