It might make sense to look at the numbers and who's coming from where. If there are 20 people going to this meeting from Duluth for example, and two from the cities, does it still make sense to have the meeting half way? Wouldn't in that case (purely hypothetical), it make better sense to have the meeting in or near Duluth for no other reason than to save fossil fuels?

I like Mikes idea of using technology to our advantage. Speaker phones, skype video, etc. I might be able to grab a speaker phone with satellite mics from work. Needs a digital phone connection though. Can any of these help us?

I'm sure Nathan will figure all this out.

lol, Tighe lets all chill a bit, everyone seems to be putting the cart before the horse here... so to give some time like JIm had posted we are going to wait until next wed. to have the meeting , and since there is so much interest we need to find a spot to fit everyone.
This will be a meeting to figure out the details of how this group will form and what we'd like to accomplish.
and we can go from there.

all you would need for the skype is a laptop with a webcam and a computer mike, you could have the laptop facing everyone, just something simple. off course we would need the screen name of whoever's laptop it is so all of us using skype could add whoever it is. you would also need wifi. it would just make, so you wouldnt need to run wires all over.

Skype is an option. I know I talked with my bro in Afgahnassattaaanaagan a lot when he was on duty. We used a webcam and hotmail = free service. i"m guessing there is about the same amount of people who would need a Skype account so I would throw it out to do hotmail.

If we could coordinate a meeting room in both the cities and Duluth area we could all sit real close and try to make it work over the air waves. There are more sophisticated options I'd be up to help figure out to keep the idea alive.

I'm nominating John Z's office in SLP for the suth'n crew. Next Wednesday 10/21 6pm? (shot in the dark) Do you have wireless? Otherwise, I'll find a coffee shop around we can take over for a bit. I can stay until 7:30 then off to Vball to pound some quicks, shoots, 1's and 2's, 10's and pipelines.

How does this sound? bossy? demanding? controlling? Not my favorite characteristics.

If the technology or meeting place is not adequate, as a third degree Reiki Master, I suggest we try Shu Chu Reiki. At a designated time we all agree to send energy to one another, wishing and praying for happiness, health and the resolution of our differences. If things go well we can then move to an energy exercise called Reiki Mawashi, letting the Reiki current flow through the whole group and feeding our stoke. Ride on!

AFTER A BARRAGE OF E-MAILS, TONS OF SCHEDULING CONFLICTS, A PINCH OF APATHY BLENDED WITH A CUP OF INDECISION...WE FINALLY SAT DOWN & TALKED ABOUT WHAT KIND OF AN ASSOCIATION WE'D LIKE TO SEE: Keep in mind there were only three who managed to make it, and we all confessed to being grouped in the mild to severe ADHD
category, but we still managed to come up with this:
1) We want and need an association to form to preserve & protect our launches.
2) It is to be a purely non-profit organization with no affiliation with any one brand, site
or shop, but will be supported by all of them.
3) Also, to become a conduit of information both for established kiters and those new to
the sport.
As you can see, we have only started with some very basic ideas and feel that a gradual approach in small increments is the best way to proceed for now.
Along those lines we'd like to keep meeting in small informal sessions, so we can gradually map out a plan of goals and objectives before we come up with a formal presentation to propose to everyone.

Right now, we're going to continue to meet on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month @ 6:00 p.m.
(wind clause excepted) at Maplewood Caribou, or Common Ground in Stacy for the sake of the crew up north. If you'd like to suggest another site, or are interested in attending, please post it here.
