Back into Wiindsurfing - WBL Fri?

Post by MNXXMan »

Hi all,

I am back into windsurfing again after 20 years off. Had most of my gear since then and got a bug to get out and do it again. I have been out twice so far on Calhoun and it's getting better.

Just picked up a demo KA Kayote 6.6 sail to replace my old 6.2 sail that was disintegrating. I have a Fanatic Ultra Bee so you if you see an older looking colorful board that may be me.. ha.

Anyways, for the southern winds coming up how is WBL looking for Fri? I have never been there before and was looking for something different then Calhoun with all those weeds. But the North side might be better, not sure. Plus would like to get a bit better before tangling with those anchored boats.

Anyone have input on WBL?
I work in Arden Hills, so WBL would be a closer drive.

I see Cannon is an option as well. Thoughts?

Thanks and looking forward to a few windy days.

You should be good to go, but maybe a little overpowered on a 6.6 tomorrow. WBL is good on a south wind, but it does get a little squirmy if the wind shifts more from the west. You can launch from either Ramsey Public Beach (Crowded), or a small beach on the very northern tip of the lake called Rutheford. Looks like great wind tomorrow, I'm taking the afternoon off and hitting up Waconia. Have fun tomorrow everyone.

Watch out for the rock piles on the sand bar SE of the boat ramp. Pete crunched his weed fin, & even kiteboard fins touch there. I had a green Fanatic, too. I'll try to point out the "FIN EATER" to you, or ask other riders.

Sounds good, I should be leaving work early today and get out there by 2 or 3. I will see who is there and ask about those rocks and things to avoid.

Thanks for the response.
