First Ride - Slingshot RPM

Post by johnz »

After running all over the cities today shuttling kids here and there, I finally made it out to the Wac as the winds were waning...

I'm no Denis - you hard core wakestyle guys should read his post about power curves, differences during kite loops, etc. I'm more of an 'intermediate', so I thought my perspective might be of interest:

Unpacked the crinkly new 14 RPM from Peter as the sun was starting to hang low in the sky was fun. The bridle is very small, and was a little confusing at first. The bar was a little longer than I would have expected, and it was funny to note that they went back to the bigger foam floats like they were 3-4 years ago.

4 lines, of course, the 800 pound centerlines which rarely tangle, everything else was regular Slingshot - just the way I like it.

Another John helped me launch the kite (thanks, dude!). She flew up nice and easy - beautiful looking kite! Not as skinny as the Revs - looked a lot like a Fuel in the air.

It was a light wind session - with about 12 mph of wind, my Glide. My overall impression of the kite was SMOOTH!!. Maybe it was just the setting and the beautiful lake, but that kite just went where you aimed it - not zipping around the window like a Rev, not doggin' it like a Fuel can sometimes do in lighter winds, it just happily crused around - very consistent power. I did a couple jumps, backrolls, and downloop transitions, everything was very predictable and almost relaxing! Maybe it was just the light winds.

Can't wait to try it out tomorrow in more lit conditions. Anyone else up at Milly tomorrow is welcome to try and pry it out of my spandex-clad hands! :D

That was a nice looking kite John - it looked like you were having a fun session.
I'd love to try it out someday if you still have it..
Happy to give you a launch!

Johny,
maybe the kite moves slower because you have those 800 pound lines.
I'm surprised you can get that kite in the air with lines that heavy.
