Is there a kiteboarding impact vest-seat harness-lifejacket

Post by Tallinn »

Hi
Does anybody know if there is a kiteboarding impact vest-seat harness-life jacket all in one design?
And if there is something like that how is it and where could I get one from?
Thanks

yes!! DaKine makes one as does Liquid Force. The House carries the one designed for windurfing, and it may work for kiting, ask them. Otherwise Pete @ MW Mtn. or Larry @ Scuba Center could order one. I'm sure other kiters may be willing to sell theirs too.
Also, I'd suggest not using a wrist strap on your leash, but attach it to your harness. Just make sure it has a quick-release feature.
Judging by your questions, it sounds like you are a "NEWBIE." Please make sure that you have had some lessons before hitting the beach. Do not become a hazard to yourself or others!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I'm a newbie when it comes to kiting. Otherwise I have a kiting DVD, a training kite, kite, board. I have been windsurfing and snowboarding but never tried a real kite. I have to find out if I should continue with windsurfing harness and life jacket or get something new ... if they even make one similar to the one I designed in my head. I haven't found one yet and I start thinking that they don't make all-in-one one.
Next difficult tasks - I need some wind and good starter lake.
I stopped at Midwest Mountaineering, they had no all-in-one designs and the guy I talked to was a kayaker and biker not a kiter.
I keep on searching
Thanks

TRY Kite Riders LLC in Madison. They have the Mystic Impact Vest/Harness for around $150. Generally, windsurf harnesses & bars do not have the load-ratings for Kiting. Malmo on Mille Lacs is good for starters. Look for SW or WNW winds. It is nice and shallow. Have an experienced kiter flight-check your gear, though lessons
from a qualified instructor are preferred & highly recommended. Be safe & be careful!
