Each year I think it is good to recognize things that stand out as notable. Please add to the list. While some are tongue and cheek, please try to keep it positive.

heh, I think my trip to Green this spring was the most expensive for me.

Gas: 160mi /20mph ($1.50/g) = $ 12
Powerex Carbon Lower tube = $175
Sail repair from mast break = $ 50
------------------------------------
Total $237

I'm sure if other start figueing out broke stuff (or lost kiteboards) the totals might skyrocket. Sheesh this sport is expensive!

Did anybody get the "Gilligan's Island" Award this year or It could be called the "Three Hour Tour" award (thanks willdawg for the idea) . That's the one where you have a massive breakdown and get stranded on an island or a distant shore. I felt that pain when I broke down on the opposite side of the river in the gorge 2 summers ago. I didn't remember to bring change for a ride back arcross the toll bridge. Note to self: Load harness pocket with a "New Twenty".
I once heard that a guy got stuck out on Coney Island at Waconia. If it's true and not too embarassing, someone re-tell that story.

2003 Lakawa Awards - Gilligan's Island
Eric,
I would definately take top honors for the Gilligan award after my epic 3 hr 22 min ride across Mill Lac's for the crossing. I technically got across in 1 hr 30min, but then it took me 2 hours to get up to the finish. Advice for next year to myself,,,, RIG BIG and bring my BIG board!!!!
