Main page wind chart is in celsius now.

Post by Protege Menace »

I noticed a few days ago that all of a sudden the temps are being shown in celsius for some reason. Main page: http://www.lakawa.com/wind/windframe.html

May want to double check what graph link you are grabbing as I think they changed something.

Here is a good chart: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.ph ... all&unit=0

Tighe,

I think your map is set on km/hr, because the wind is way to high. From the URL it looks like map reference point is centered somwhere around Theodore Wirth park, and the only way I can get those numbers is if I switch to km/hr. I think that automatically changes everything to metric which explains the celsius. Takes only a second to fix.

Maybe you should code one link for White Bear and the other for Waconia, they must be about 75 miles apart. Makes a differnce on some days.

Just checked, only 43 miles as the crow flys. Fooled me, takes a hell of long time in a car

Any fix is a good fix, because I go to that page before I go to any other weather forecast sites, even if I'm not kiting. Knowing exactly when it will get cold or start raining is great for knowing if I should take the motorcycle to work or not :D

Hey D Menace,

You can get your own customised version of that meteogram. Go to http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.ph ... it=0&lg=en Scroll down to the Google Map and click to center on your preferred forecast area. (drag to move, like any google map). Then click the "Hourly Forecast Graph" link near the bottom. Customize the page for the elements you want included in your meteogram. When you get it the way you like it, save to favorites. I change mine for summer or winter. Tighe probably does the same.

Geeeez...I just clicked your link....you obviously know how to do this. Oh well,... maybe someone else can use it.

I set it up for MPLS West, MPLS Central, and MPLS East. for the life of me I can't figure out why the graphs are smaller when brought up by a click in the forecast frame, but come up full size as the default image. Any ideas?

I also added a nice statewide current condition graphic. not sure how often it get's updated.

Sweet thanks, the links work. Though when you first click the Wind icon on top, it shows the old celsius chart. Maybe a general Twin Cities one would work for that one.

Tighe -
thanks for the extra links; I think that it is coming up smaller since the graph itself is taller (sleet, freezing rain, etc.) If you set the page to fit for the width, and scroll down for the bottom part, it would scale bigger (?)
