South Padre Island Kite RoundUp - May

Post by krazykatie »

I'm tossing around the idea of heading back down to this May 7-12th. (I'm still going 4/17-23) Airfare with Southwest is
99 bucks each way!! Is anyone else considering? I would like a travel buddy, if i go. Post up or email
me if you're interested! kdandkayla@yahoo.com

I just got back from a biz trip that took me through Corpus and SPI.
Low 80s with good winds every day. I somehow managed to get my work done by 4pm every day and get a 1 to 2 hour session in. Rode the 15m twice and the 9m 5 times. For those of you that don't know me I don't get onto a 9m until it's a solid 25mph so it was a good windy trip.
A horrible realization is because there was little wind on weekends last year ( weekend Warrior) I actually rode more on this trip than I did all last summer in Mn.
I cannot recommend Padre enough to those of you that have never been, it's just an awesome place to ride and the wind seems to be so reliable.

My last day there was no wind so Teran and I went kayaking on the gulf side, nice 2 to 4 foot waves. I came in to take a break and was watching Teran surf a wave in, all of a sudden his head shoots to the right and I can see he's staring at a large black object about a foot away from him on the same wave. His eyes got wide and I was trying to guess what it was, looked like a big ray.......turns out it was a bloody black garbage bag. Scary things those garbage bags.

I'll be curious to find out how big a crowd this event draws. I opted for late Apr. to avoid the traffic. Watch for pale riders, chances are we're MNsotans, or "CHEEZY-RIDERS" from WI!
