Midwestspeedquest... An Award Winning Event

Post by DavidKnight »

So the other day, Craig Bergh writes me an email letting me know I'll be getting something in the mail. I was expecting a newsletter or something announcing the new Midwest Speed Quest contest. But to my surprise, I was awarded the trophy below. It's a really beautiful piece or woodwork- thank you so much Craig! Any background available on the artist(s) who created it? I can't say enough about the efforts Craig goes through to make this such a fun and special event. I hope to see lots of new people on the water in Worthington this year. http://www.midwestspeedquest.com

I met & spoke with the creator of that woodwork at last years swap meet. He had some items for sale that had that same look. He was from Worthington, I think. So I am assuming it is the same guy. I am sure someone on the forum knows his name. His work was beautiful.

Hello David,

Thank you for the kind words. You worked very hard for this Trophy. It is most deserved.

The Trophy was made by Jeff Hegwer of Worthington. He is a Windsurfer, Instructor, Race Director, Master Wood Worker, and a good friend.

Jeff Hegwer created this wooden trophy from many layers of exotic woods. The a great deal of time involved creating each individual layer and pattern.

Jeff Adamski of Osego, created the base from molten glass.

I want thank Jeff H and Jeff A for being Trophy Sponsors for the 2008 Midwest Speed Quest.

Please send some kind words to Jeff H and Jeff A for their hard work!!!

Jeff Hegwer can be contacted at: winddog(at)iw.net

Jeff Adamski can be contacted at: jadamski(at)usa.net

Thank you Eveyone.

Sincerely,

Craig Bergh
