I have been snowboarding for many years now and want to get into kiteboarding/ snowkiting as soon as possible. I am on the LAKAWA's email list for lessons but I'm not sure how soon they will be. I was hoping something would be going on this weekend after the recent snow, but still no news.
How did you guys get into kiteboarding? Should I attend an event or is there some place I can just go and get involved a little bit? I am still eager to take a lesson.
Thanks for all your help!

Re: Getting Started
Take some lessons! It is money well spent. There are things in this world that one shouldn't assume that they can just do without proper instruction and this would be one of them. There are too many things that could go wrong if you don't have an idea what you are doing making bad things happen. Take some lessons, go to "March 6-8th Mille Lacs Kite Crossing!" and see what it is all about, and you could probably set up some lessons there if you haven't tried LAKAWA school of kiteboarding. The link is located on the side of this page. Have fun!

Re: Getting Started
Yea me and a buddy are planning on going up to Mille Lacs and checking it all out. I have tried the LAKAWA link and am hoping they will have a scheduled Snowkiting 101 lesson soon.
Re: Getting Started
Lessons with LAKAWA is the defenite first step. Safety and general kiting proceedures are very important to learn right the first time. Caution, this sport is very addicting. Learing on the snow is easier than on water so now is the time!
