BOARD 4 TRAVEL

Post by JRN »

 DO U KNOW ABOUT A BOARD DESIGNED FOR TRAVEL? I guess it must break down into smaller pieces to meet the airline restrictions. Who makes them? Do they have a web-site or a U.S. distributor? Any info would be appreciated! Thanx, JRN

Hey Jim I was thinking about making one. I found this online, check it out.

little pricy though, I guess you have to travel a lot to justify it.

THANKS DIEGO! Ouch, that pricetag gave me sticker shock. I was thinking about modding my board for a trip to FLA.
Estaimate 2 trips a year for 3 years to justify their price. It looks like a high quality stick, though. Like Arsenio says,
"Hmmmmm!?"

No Mad is the split board name. From France.

I saw 4 or 5 models in Playa Del Carmen last February.

Jim, I flew Sun Country to Mexico this year and I put my kites and board into a kite bag that unfolds into a long bag. I was expecting $75.00 each way but even when I told them it was a wakeboard, they charged me $25 each way since it was <5 feet long and under the second weight limit (50lbs I think). That is the same price as a second bag which I would have had to pay even if I didn't have by board because my first bag was my guitar. I had my two harnesses, helmet and snorkling gear in the kite bag as well as bulky light-weight stuff and liquids that you can't take onboard. I had my clothes in the carry on and handbag they let you take on the plane. My kite bag got a little beat up, but still useable for another trip. My guitar was in a soft bag and it had no damage (everyone knows and loves guitars and I found this is the best way to keep them from getting thrown about). I realize that my clothes may take up a bit less room than yours, but you could still get by with a small board, I bet.

THERE SEEMS TO BE SOME CONFUSION RE: SUNCOUNTRY'S POLICY. Robby has said it is 60 " total(LxWxH). My past experience (2 yrs. ago) was only the length counted plus the 50# weight limit. Both SNCNTRY & NWdelta fly to Ft. Meyers, so I'll go with who is cheapest overall. I have heard that NW is more lenient. I was guessing at $100/trip
in overlimit charges to justify a breakdown board. Even at 750 euros that is still $960 for the NO MAD, but less than the other at $1160. :|
