Re: Kite Soldiers- Idahos snowkite event
Anyone interested in driving out to the montana for the rodeo and then to kite soldiers in idaho the following weekend?
Re: Kite Soldiers- Idahos snowkite event
I don't think I will ever drive that far again....If I go I will be flying then renting a car.
Re: Kite Soldiers- Idahos snowkite event
haha! Come on, what's 24 little hours in the car? It was fun to see all of you guys last year, spilling out of the ambulance at Mt Haggin. And the PS2 hookup with the couch while driving was killer.P R Key wrote:I don't think I will ever drive that far again....

Nothing wrong with being in a car for 24 hours but we were in it for 48! If I traveled it by car again I would take more time getting there. Don't get me wrong it was a great trip! I just would have rather spent an extra 40 hours there.
Re: Kite Soldiers- Idahos snowkite event
I've made the drive from Minneapolis to Seattle and back 6 times in the last 2 years. A great drive, but expensive and too many perfect places to stop off and kite along the way, but you don't have the time in order to reach your ultimate destination on time.

I know what you mean about wanting to spend the extra 40 hours there...
but for me I'd have about 10-12 hours of travel time in getting down to mpls (3 hours), getting to the airport early (2), flying to missoula/billings/boise (3-4), picking up the car (1) and driving across to montana (1-2).
Or about 15 hours driving out there to montana (from breezy point) and then another 5 to snowkite soldier... and I'd have 7-8 full days out there.

I've been kicking around the idea of heading out that way for both events and kiting anywhere I can for the week between. Just not really sure I want to spend that much money right now. Who knows.

ill be out there driving up from Colorado. last year I was out in Sun Valley for a family vacation and got to have Monty(Nathans friend from snowkite soldier) show me around some of the different kiting spots out there and its plain out amazing.
Nathan any idea where the closest hotels/lodging is to the event site?
Also to add one more piece of information the event is February 21-22.
