The Amazing Dr. Chris Delp

Post by DavidKnight »

Just heard an unbelievable story on MPR about a lady who slipped on some ice and was stuck outside for 5 hrs before her daughter found her. She came into the Duluth ER with a core body temp near 70 degrees. Chris said it took an hour of chest compressions to restart her heart once it was warm enough... and they had to take all her blood out of her body, warm it, and pump it back in. This was the coldest anyone has gotten and survived. And Chris Delp was a the helm! Yep... if Chris is sailing the Mother during a big Noreaster, I won't have any fear heading out into the cold water.

Here's the link incase you missed it...

Nice job Chris!

I just caught the end of the story this morning on KQ but thought Dr. Delp in duluth was probably Dr Chris Delp.

Awesome! Totally awesome!

I just saw the postings today, and thanks!!!
It was a great case, a tribute more to the stubborn scandinavians than any medical skill. Most people know me for my extensive knowledge on the effects of a reallly cold beer on the human body on a hot saturday afternoon. It was a great article, most of the interesting ER stories aren't fit for the newspaper.
Here's hoping for an early season, and it is great to get feedback from friends like this

That lady reminds me of my grandmother from Norway, one of the toughest people I have ever met.

My favorite British(or is it Australian, I forget) ER joke:
Patient: “Doctor, I've got a strawberry stuck up my bum.”
Doctor: “I've got some cream for that.
