DAMN!!! We can break.

Post by RandyL »

Be safe out there!!! Adam (aka Death Roll) is recovering at Regions Hospital with ten broken ribs and a bruised lung. He took a hard fall on his back from about fifteen feet or so, he landed basically on ice. It was New Years Day and we were up in Rice Lake Wisconsin. The Rice Lake Hospital thought it best to get him close to home to a good trauma hospital so they can keep an eye on him. He should be just fine after a long healing process.

Yup! We can break. My left arm can attest to that. As always, on ice the falls are a lot more punishing than on water. Kiteboarding on ice is a calculated risk. Be careful out there and stay safe. Glad he was wearing a helmet. Wishing Adam a speedy recovery.

THANKS to everyone for your kind thoughts!

I wish I had a some "snappy" comebacks to some of your comments--oh yeah, I do. I have TEN of them!

10 broken ribs hurts..... but I'm feeling much better. It is really true that it hurts when you laugh....no wonder all my "friends" are calling me trying to make me laugh!

What happened? Pride before ability (and that ice has no agility). I probably jumped too high for the conditions, new kite, over sent kite, kite looped the bad boy around as I was about 15 feet in air, and it slammed me to the ice head/shoulder first like a broken pinata!

I knew something bad had just happened, since I couldn't really move my left side, and I couldn't breath for about 1 minute (just FYI- a minute is long time to wait when wanting air). I don't want to bore you with the other details, like the paramedics cutting into my new ski jacket and cloths I just received as gifts or the two hour ambulance back to city.....

Two final words:

1) Thanks again for all your thoughts.....I really does help read these posts and know folks are thinking about you

2) NEVER give your kiting buddy shit about him wearing his motocross pads to protect his ribs before you go out riding with him! ( Even though someone said, "hey dude, you could turn those moto pads around and everyone would think you'd have some stomach muscles!)
