Looks juicy. Definitely want some of that.

Looks like the wind will be quite a bit less up there though on Sunday. The last storm dumped 10+ inches near Rush City, though I have no idea if there is any lake that will work or even if the snow clung to the lake or was blown off.

If the forecast moves the wind north Mille definitely looks like a strong option.

I'm still working on child care for Sunday....hope to work something out.

The forecast was just upgraded for Milly. Looks like 15G20 now, and over 5 inches of fresh snow tonight. So, I vote for Milly. We could stay on the South or East side to cut 15-20 mins from the commute.

Upon Conversing with Terry, we decided to hit up Father Hennepin state park at the boat launch. There is a small point that should provide a little shelter from the wind for setup, and then we can walk out and launch from there. Probably the safest option. Denis said the snow is causing a bit of slushing, which makes me nervous driving on it. The cold weather will make us take frequent breaks, and the parking should be pretty close.

All you need is a park sticker. Were leaving early (for us) and plan to fide till we just can't anymore. Hope to see others as well. Have fun out there. It is looking epic.

i just got back from Mille lacs right now and the lake is great. little slush walking out of garrison but it was around 8-12" of untouched snow that seems to be bonded well. wind was decent until around 3 and it started to cut out. the snow really picked up later in the afternoon so tomorrow might be "epic". however, the drive home was killer and took about 3+ hours.

game time decision if I am heading back tomorrow or not. drive safe.

It doesn't seem that there was that much snow across the state. Just enough to make driving difficult. The RUC maps (aka experimental) show decent winds across the state until 4pm.

The options I have heard so far are:
Mille Lacs, Father Hennepin (winds 15mph, good snow, but icy roads)
Mille Lacs, Malmo (winds 15G20 mph, good snow, but icy roads)
WBL (winds 17G25 mph crappy snow, decent roads)
Rush lake (winds 15 mph, good snow, icy roads)
Cedar lake, WI (winds 17G25, decent snow, decent roads in MN, icy in WI)
