One of the most important things is to be able to get your skis or board off quickly if you lose your power source (kite goes down) etc). Most skis are pretty easy, boards with flow bindings pretty easy, boards with conventional bindings, not so easy. Iv'e gone through 3 times over the years testing Switchblades on early ice and have been lucky enough to just loop the kite and power out.Try not to panic, and you'll end up laughing about it later! great post! Kiters should remember to stay hooked in, and/or possibly thread their shoulder(s) thru the bar so they can be pulled out. Also kite together or at least make sure someone knows where you are!

Also remember to wear and have some Polar Picks (life saving ice picks) for pulling your self out of the ice hole. I got a free pair at Dick's Sporting goods today. I was told if you spend $25 at the store they are free. got to the decks and they said I needed a coupon from the newspaper, but for me they did it any way...You also get a free fishing reel...
One more thing. If you drop in an ice hole and can't get out...(heaven forbid...you should always have a buddy....) If you are going into shock and lose consciousness. Wet your arms and let them freeze to the ice. That way you have more time to be found alive and you will not drown...
