snowboard help

Was looking for some advice on what I should buy for a snowboard for kiting. I have done some snow kiting but I moved back here last feb. from florida, so I just used the old burton 149 i had from years ago. I know its to small for me so with all the snowboards and different shapes, flex and lengths out there I am pretty clueless to what really works good for snowkiting. Another problem I have are the funds are limited so I know I cant afford a kite specific snowboard. And if I do find a deal on a kite specific snowboard how do the work on the slopes. I am 6' 185lbs. What do most people use for bindings and boots. Any Info is appreciated.

Save your money! that snowboard will work just fine. I think most people around here don't use kite specific snowboards. I ski mostly.. but when I board... I use an old burton beat up snowboard that is even slightly directional or ashleigh's short snowboard. Both work great!

Or see can borrow some people boards and cruise around for a bit. Find what works for you!

For boots,some people like flow bindings to get in and out of easy... but anything will work fine. I have heard that more flexy boots are better for kiting.

Cautionkid , for your height and weight a board around 158 to 163 would work great , as you know you can go shorter and thats fine also, but somewhere between those sizes I listed are good for your size .. and def dont need a kite specific board ,,, things you want out a board for snowkiting are a Twin shape and wide board(id say thats the bigest thing to look for) most snowkiters are on edge 80-90% of the time so it helps to have a wider board . you can snowkite with alot of diffrent boards, and youll see many diffrent peeps out there on sevral diffrent board s I even have had a couple students that brought out there old directoinals (not recommended) but it works .
what I would do is
Check out Sportsauthority (sportmart) they run some pretty sweet deals and I used to go thru a couple boards a season and would always find a cheap boards under 200$

I picked up a board at a pawn shop with Flow Bindings on it. I have no idea what kind it is but it works great. I like the flow bindings but anything would work. And I hate just cruising in a straight line. Just a bit more convenient. My point is don't sweat it. Anything works. I'd say use what you have and try some others to get a better idea what you looking for.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I may save some money and maybe buy a plane ticket to padre or hatteras.
