Looks like I may get a window of time in the morning to capitalize on the fantastic forecast. I'm banking on ride time in the morning til noon/1pm.

I think I'll try to get up there around 9am. "There" is Ramsey. The winds look to be SE in the morning turning S by early afternoon.

After that I'm throwing the idea out to meet up with my family at Jacobson's Pine Tree Appl Orchard about 3-4 milies NW of Ramsey.

Hope to see a few (or a lot) of y'all out there. The wind looks to be builing all morning and I'm hoping to get by on rigging the 14M T2 for my session.

Going to ramsey around noon. That looks to be when the wind really starts up. See everyone there!

Just got done with 2 hrs on Washington, great SE til the rain moved in and the wind moved out. But it will be back. It was starting to clock south so Sportsmans will be the afternoon call. I will be back out @ 4:00 and if the forcast holds maybe I can finally fly the 7m I've been hauling around all summer. Hope to see others out.

Headed down to Clear Lake in the hope of better winds with less chance for rain. Started with a 12m and was quickly over-powered. Ended up flying a 7.5m (my next smaller option) and was fine on that. The reports from the ladies on the beach was that the gusts were hitting 35mph--it felt like it sometimes. Never been to Clear Lake before, but there's a great local crew there and it looks to be a really fun riding spot. Nice to meet all you Iowans. It's worth the drive when the conditions warrant it--I hear the local rib joint and partying at the VFW are required to round off the experience! I'll have to complete my experience next time I guess.

Special thanks to Heather for feeding me--I needed the extra energy to keep me fighting the gusts. I hope Rob took care of feeding you since you gave up your food for me!

We had a couple good sessions on Pepin on the WI side at Stockolm...good flat water riding on the north end of breakwater/wing dam.
This is another awesome launch spot on Pepin!

Dave,
I got your message about meeting on Sunday...sorry I didn't get back to you. I drove over to Maiden Rock to take a look around in hopes I might see you (and enjoy the fall colors!)...I didn't make it as far as Stockholm...I could see your kites from across the way when I got back to Lake City though! Looks like you were having a great time...

The wind was S to SE in the afternoon...the location you were at looked perfect for it.

Clear Lake was blasting on Sunday as the wind hit the upper 20's for a good portion of the day with gusts in the 30's. Started out the morning on the 14, but shortly afternoon it cranked up to where I was over powered on Heathers 10m Sb2. The wind calmed down and the gusts disapeared later afternoon for a very comfortable powered 10m ride to end the day.

Seth Kept me from going out for that last session with his wisdom about getting the B-day girl fed. Cant wait for Padre!

I had my first two perfectly controlled body drags Saturday and Sunday, Clear Lake, Fish Hatch launch. Well, OK, one body slam on the water, but a girl has to have some fun. My thanks to two Steves and Rob H for helping me launching and landing (and good advice) and to Heather and all the other women for cudos. I have been trying for this day for at least two years. One of the best days of my life.

BTW, the beach at Macintosh point was terrible for flying. The wind was going in weird circles so my 6M kite would nose-dive and then get kicked by a gust and yank me heaven-ward till it lost wind completely and hit the water with force, folded in half and blew up the leading edge. Guess it's a good excuse to buy a bow-style kite now. George had a 9M bow-style and it nose-dived and yanked him around stupidy for a while too, so I guess it may have been better flying at Fish Hatch even though it was stronger wind there. Thanks to winter-kiter-instructor Pete for checking up on us newbies flying at the Mac beach.
