Looks like the WAc today???
Looks like the Mille wind kind of fizzled out... Looks like the WAC is the call for the day. Any takers or contradicting forcasts for Mille?

Man, what a perfect 6.6M afternoon to sail at Waconia. Except of course that is was cold and rainy! Oh well, no matter, the wind was good and that’s all that really matters. Got to the launch a little after 2pm and it was just starting to come up a little. Diego and Luiz were out on 5.8M and 6.8M respectively and said that was about right, so I rigged 6.6M. There were quite a few kiters also and they seemed to be doing pretty good, including Jeff Gorton on his old prototype 12M TD1.
I hit the water around 2:30 taking the 148l to see if I could manage with a powered up 6.6M. Well it felt really big. 2 tacks back and forth to the island and I was ready to grab the 121l. If it’s powered up 6.6M at the Crossing I will prolly opt for the 121l. It’s just a lot easier to manage in the chop and swell and a lot more fun to ride. If it’s marginal 6.6M or 7.5 then the 148l is prolly the best call for long distance.
Anyway, after switching to the 121l this was a great sesh. Some holes, but mostly lit up and fun to sail in the rain and overcast conditions. Not so great standing on the shore, so staying out sailing was a good thing. I rode until around 4, rested, checked in with home base and took the 148l back out for a few tacks just for a final comparison. This time the 148l felt better even though the wind was still similar. Amazing how after sailing for a bit you get more comfortable with things, even if they are less than ideal. Ultimately I was getting a little spent and it was time to go anyway and I came off the water not long after 5.
Rob Evans was rigging a 7.5M and the theme to Speed Racer started playing in my head. By comparison Geoff Martin was on a 6.0 and coming in to grab his smaller board (85l) cuz he was “overpowered.” There is no accounting for taste!
Luiz snapped a harness line and I should change mine out also. They look like crap, and will likely let go sometime soon.
Overall, a really fun afternoon even though the rain never really quit. Kirk, Matt Bartell and John were also sailing. I made most all of my jibes, though I stalled every single one. That’s ok, maybe next year I will start planing through once in a while. Or not!

I'm impressed that you made the trek to the lake. I kept checking the weather all day, and kept thinking the rain would clear. Should have just headed out. Glad you and others scored a good session.

Surprisingly good wind at El Bear as well. I showed up late (6pm) 'cause I fell asleep waiting for the wind. Drove by Randy's and it looked like he was putting away his stuff. Got there and Kurt, Avery, Pat and Geo were out on 13 Yargas and 9 TD's. I'm sure the foul weather kept more riders away - cold and rainy but I'm glad we got some rides this weekend.

Lets see: Mike W, Randy L, Roger, Adam, Patrick, Dave Z, Geoff, Avery, and myself all scored yesterday. That's 9 kites peppering the skies over WBL. No fair weather only kiters on the East side:

Wind, rain, waves, and more wind made for a great afternoon at the Bear.
