New in town looking for kiting spots

Post by Florida kiter »

Hi all,
I just moved into town from Jupiter Florida and I want to find a few kiting spots and some kiting buddies. I live in uptown near lake calhoun, but I see that there is no kiting allowed. Where to go? I've never kited on fresh water before either, only waves and gusty winds. I've got some great stories to tell in return for launch and riding spots.
Thanks.

CLICK ON THE LAKES SECTION. You'll find most of our favorite launches. Welcome, & thanks for following the summer kite ban at Calhoun!

Bryce has a Google map that has some sites... http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& ... 3&z=7&om=1

I also try to update this site when I think of it and when I find new spots... http://www.localkitespots.com/kitesurfing/Minnesota
It's a bit lacking, but it could be great if other people can help make it great.

The Lakes section here helps too, but I like having the spot on a mapping tool to make it easier to find.

Welcome to the North, hope to see you out on the water....get your butt upto Mille Lacs or lake superior as soon as there's a wind forcast, nearest conditions we have to what you're used too.Not the same just the nearest.
I hope you ski or snowboard, you're now in the land of winter kiting and the beginning of colder waters about 6 weeks away......bruhaha. ( the colder water not the snow and ice, you've got 7 weeks till that gets here)
