I'll be up there too, I have a seasonal at Pete's, site 39, stop by if you want to sit around the fire. I will have some family with me so I don't know how much I'll get to kite but if there is wind a couple of hours would noty hurt I guess. Hope to see some of you out there at Reddy hopefully but Malmo will work too if there is wind!

Our family is renting a house just west of Reddy Creek. Yesterday we blew out the main strut of our '06 Switchblade 16M. If anyone coming up has a strut bladder that's about 8' long, we'd buy it from you. Hoping for more good winds and looking forward to seeing you up here. My cell is 612-590-0970.

I don't know what you guys are seeing, but I'm having trouble convincing myself to drive to Mille Lacs based on the forecast. Is somebody seeing wind coming that I don't see--the west or southwest part of the state seems to be the place to be. Mille Lacs looks pretty dead unless you're expecting thermals.

I was thinking of trying green lake, it has the best forecast.
What is the best launch for SE winds? I am windsurfing, not kiting, an so need less room to launch.

By the way, here's a wind map. See what you think:

That's weird... I'm a newbie, very naive looking at weather.com/accuweather/launch code/ NOAA blob thingies, they all say there's wind between 10 -17mph at mille lacs. If Green lake has the best forecast, what's a good spot for newbies (kiting) there? Thanks.

I just looked and it says 5-10 for mille on Saturday and 5 on Sunday. Are you guys looking at something else I'm not seeing? I'm heading to the WAC on Sunday. Already got plan for Saturday and I won't be able to get up early enough to make a trip to Mille worth it unless I spend the night again and then it would have to be worth it both days.

Eu Han...go to Mille, it's the safest beginner launches we have.
If the winds SE go to Reddy creek, which is about 4 miles west of Malmo on 18, you'll see the kites in the air.
Have a great time.

I can't believe it! Maybe I can't read the wind charts. Looks like Reddy Creek is the call for tomarrow. I will leave in the morning on my own, but would be happy to share the ride. Anyone who would like to rideshare can give me a call anytime at 612 868 0393. My name is Michael. I am a good kite launcher/catcher and have the basics down. I can kite upwind. That's about it. I'm thinking about camping at Pete's tomarrow eve.

my 2 cents worth on the forecasts.
as of now, my read on the weather is that wind will be mainly in the western part of the state tomorrow. There will be lighter winds (10-15mph)making their way across the state in the early afternoon, with some 15-20mph winds by early evening. Depending upon how fast the system moves though there may be a morning session on Sunday as well.

It's weather so who knows, things can change, as we've seen with all these unpredicted sessions this week. Keep the faith and enjoy the day at the lake however it ends up.

I would like to camp at Mille. What is Pete's? Is it a campground or somebody's place? Fr. Henn is too crowded for us. Suggestions?
