Visiting Mille Lacs area July 27th-August 1

Post by rockinbach »

Hello, I'm a novice kitesurfer from Chicago who'll be up near Mille Lacs this week. Is there any hope for kiteable wind on Mille Lacs lake this week? I checked the forecast and it doesn't look too promising. Any further insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I can empathize. I was up there visiting last weekend when there was no wind. We played in the water. A lot of people took a launch (like a huge pontoon boat) fishing.

Monday looks like a possibility. Mille Lacs also has a way of creating it's own weather. The winds can be very different at different sides of the lake (not just upwind and downwind side). Weather changes often this time of year so stay flexible and there's a good chance you'll get some ridable wind.
