The MOOOOOOOSE REGATTA!

Post by Woody »

Hey Everybody!

The 5th Annual Moose Regatta is happening next weekend June 28,29 in Dryden, Ontario Canada. Come to our Wilderness City in the heart of Sunset Country and let your soul go for a ride...

Registration will happen Friday until 6pm and Saturday morning until 10am. A practice course will be set on the water for Friday with racing scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. A long distance "race around the islands" will be done on Sunday. What a treat this year having the possibility of kiters joining the mix! Only you can make that happen! Some people have been posting to look at car pooling, so ask in this thread if you need a ride.

Full event info can be found if you click right *HERE*

Accomodations are filling up fast! One of our main sponsors, Holiday Inn Express has 6 rooms set aside for the regatta. They can be found on the event web page. Or if you have any questions, just shoot me an email. We hope you can make the trek to Dryden and join us for some fun on, and off the water.

Warm temperatures are forecasted, warm welcomes will be given, but not warm beer!

Good Winds...

Remember you do NOT NEED a US passport if you are a US citizen to go to Canada by car, all you need is a bith certificate and a valid form of ID to cross the border and get back in to the US. That's the rule until next summer (July 2009) just wanted to throw this out there so no one uses that as an excuse to not go.

Also, if you are without car or don't want to pay a lof for GAS, consider car pooling. Myself I will be driving through Minneapolis area from Des Moines in a Gas gussling Jeep, there are only two of us in it but I will be pulling a trailer that can hold lots more gear and up to two more people. Heading to Minneapolis Thursday night then further north early Friday morning. Back through the cities on Tuesday (or Monday weather dependent)

Let's support the Moose Regatta, one of the most fun events of the year in the spectacular nature scenery up north.

Sounds like a great event. I have plans unfortunately this weekend else I'd be there for sure.

Yes, if you can make it, go. Woody and his posse' have been supporters of our events and instrumental in helping to keep Fleet 8 alive. Show them your support.....and have a blast doing it.

enjoy

Nice is the only way we know how Bill!

Just a couple of tips for those of you making the trek.

1) Buy your beer in the USA before heading into Canada because it's WAY cheaper in the states. Every person is allowed 24 cans/bottles duty free, so take advantage of that!
2) Gas up your cars/trucks/vans/Blue Moose's before crossing the border. Gas is about 40% more here in Canada...ouch!
3) Be sure to turn at Cloquet from 35E onto Hwy.33 to Hwy. 53. Don't go through Duluth! It'll add 1.5hrs onto your trip with endless construction it seems.
4) Bring some bug spray. The bugs seem a little hungrier this year for some reason!

:P

PS. we always have the 'fun factor' on full here in Dryden!
