Snow Kite Trip Anyone?

Post by Mike B »

I was planninig on a roadtrip to Beartooth Pass last weekend to ride with the Montana/Wyoming crew, but I had some things come up that kept me at home. Here is a link to what I missed out there last weekend. http://www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2348778 The conditions should be good for quite a while given the huge snowpack they have. Anyone interested in a road trip in the next few weeks? 8)

Crazy!!!!!!! They still have that much snow???? wow.

My skis are packed away and I'm really liking the wet stuff.

And I'm a bit envious. There's gotta be some insane spring riding out there.

Mike - It was good over Memorial Day weekend. I hit what I call State Line and Overlooks on the Red Lodge side of the Pass. Good winds and snow. I may be open to a return trip. When are you thinking of going?

I just checked to see the conditions and it appears the Beartooth Highway from Red Lodge to the Wyoming state line is closed from a June 1st avalanche. The other option for getting to the Pass is thru Cooke City. That can be done two ways, thru Cody, Wyoming on the Chief Joseph Highway or thru Bozeman/Yellowstone.

If the Pass reopens from Red Lodge I may be up for kiting next weekend. I would fly up on Thursday night and kite Friday and Saturday, flying home on Sunday. I'll keep an eye on the http://www.mt.gov site (roads and weather).
