Worthington Windsurfing Regatta and Unvarnished Music Festival is June 11 thru the 15th (two weeks!)
Five years ago few sailors knew where Minnesota was....besides Wgtn. The 2008 Nationals will be our largest event ever. Sailors from Great Britian, Canada (right Woody?), Windsurfer of the Year Alex Morales (bringing a compliment of Miami & Florida sailors), California will be well represented along with numerous other significant locales.
A truck load of fine folks have spent untold hours over this past 10 months preparing an Event of Uncommon Merit. Race committees, food committees, music committees & technical riders, insurance councilors, beer garden committees, permits for street blockage, night music, beer garden, ASCAP fees, garbage control....and countless of other details that have been tended to by a group of dedicated folks, not to forget the Chamber of Commerce and the Daily Globe.
Folks far beyond Wgtn. have also been of significant assistance in helping us with this endeavor. Thanks Tighe, Randy, Woody, Jeff A. Kevin G. Steven J. Arnie C. Ulf, larry.Ray K. .and many, many more of you for helping promote this event.
We,ve got high aspirations for entertainment this year and it'll begin on Wed. night/opening ceremonies. The U.S. Navy will strike the colors, the city band will perform , a mayoral proclaimation will be given, and then followed up by awarding winning UMF-Song Writer of the Year- Steve Kaul and the Brass Kings.
Joe Price (of National Resophonic fame) will show up on Thursday night.....fresh from releasing his CD Joe Price-and the Trailer Park Trillionaires.
Buckets and Tap/TEN FOOT TALL will perform on Friday night fresh from headlining at Mn. Orchestra Hall the night before.....expect the unexpected. They'll then head off for a Russian tour (I think thats where their headed)
There will be entertainment every night including Randy Johnson and RIDE as the featured musicians on Sat. night. Who better to provide the right mojo.
(For a complete list of afternoon & nightly musicians check the website. )
Bring your sailin friends, musician friends,street theatre friends for the shoreline jams.....they'll go far into the evening ..each night. New tiki torches are in the budget! so expect a blazing shoreline jam & Expect the unexpected.
Speaking on behalf of W.O.W. we're beholden to you all, that support us and show up for the week/weekend.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR ARRIVAL,
billkeitel

Questions regarding our incendary friends;
Location: worthington MN The "fire tamers" are longtime kindred friends of this festival and shoreline jam. Niko and his sister spend much of their time in Costa Rica (on the monkey coast). They won't tell you but, they are part of (pretty dam famous!) BURNING MAN. The festival and tribe that creates and makes the five story structure of incendary fame.
Niko and his sister are epitome of firebrand incendarist's. They show up on rare occasion and with little notice. No amount of preplanning assures us of anything. If you are lucky...you will run into them sometime. They enjoy the sailors, music and hometown friendliness! They blow in on the slightest of breezes and dedicate an evening of fire to the unsuspecting public. Their performances usually leave a fire searing image in the back of your brain.
Thanks for your support, Hope to see you all,
