Getting real close, Low boom Larry drives across the Saylorville bridge twice a day to and from his way from work. He told me the north end up by Jester Park is open as of Monday. The rest of it is still frozen. We expect it to crack open any day now with some warm winds. Stay tuned, we'll post msg when we score our first water session. Until then, here is a clip from a December 9th water session in 2006. 8)

Low boom Larry, Randy Howell were out today windsurfing on Lake Rathbun about an hour south of Des Moines, I think Jon S went to Red Rock Lake from the Twin Cities.

Tighe, could you put this info under the "Events" section as well please?

Thanks again.

For those who want to camp, we got a bunch of the camp sites right by the waterfront blocked off. So if you went online to book a campsite at Prairie Flower Camg Ground by Saylorville Lake and can't find a good spot, no worries, we got some extra ones, just shoot me a msg and hopefully we can accomodate everyone. The sites are BIG and hold 3-4 cars and same number of tents.

Tighe, do you want to put the 2008 Dam Jam Event on the event schedule?

There were some questions regarding activities at our event. Most is outlined in the NOR, but to answer some of the questions direct.

A Dash for cash race will be held Saturday at 3:00 PM for windsurfers. A simple mass start slalom type race with two reaches and finish on the beach. Prices for top 10 finishers.

Registration for the whole event is $40, and includes catered lunch Saturday, BBQ dinner w/ drinks included Saturday night at our floating marina bar and Grille, as well as live band entertainment. Warm breakfast Sunday morning will be served from 8-9am before course racing starts.
Raffle prices, as well as tropies fro 1,2,3 in each class. T-shirt and poster for everyone who registers.

There will be a non-racing (supporter registration) available as well, it will include all meals for $25.

Demo's of sails and tandem board will be available at the event site. As well as beginner instructions.

For more questions, post here or email ujentler@ g mail dot com.

This is this weekend. We know many of our Iowan wind riders because they make the trek to many of our events. Let's show them our support.

Sounds like kiters are welcome during this weekend. The lake is large enough to spread out on the water and give room to the Windsurfing races. Kiters are also welcome to all the off the water activities. Sounds like a blast.

What is the water temperature there? Is it for a swimsuit, shortie, wetsuit, or drysuit?

Looks like the water temperature is going to be just under 60F. That should be more than warm enough for a bunch of Minnesotans!

See you there!

Hi Michelle, are you camping with a camper or with a tent?
I currently have 3 sites booked, one will be for our "event headquarters", the other extra ones for people who come support the event or haven't gotten a chance to book yet. Larry Low Boom also has two sites, Randy Howell has one, and Kirk has 2, Igor has 2 team Nebraska booked 2, so there should be pleanty of room for "Dam Jam" folks to get a good site. Each site fits a full size camper and a few tents and 3-4 cars, they are BIG. Most the sites we have are facing the water.

Also I found out that only half of the sites are bookable form the web, the rest are first come first serve. So it is also possible to show up and grab one if you just show up. If you arrive to the campground without a site, tell the folks at the entrance you are with the "Dam Jam Event" and the'll gladly let you in. The campground is called Prairie Flower campground and we are in loop C by the water (all the way in the back, left turn after entering)

Looking forward to see lots of you there.

There are some detailed directions on the NOR listed in the first post. It lists Oak Grove Access which is next to the Prairie Flower Campground. Go to Prairie Flower.

That works, I am pretty sure they are flexible swapping sites ones you get there. Section D is in a differnt "loop" but right next to "C". Looking forward to see you there.

Anyone going down to kite and partake in the off water activities ? Im planning on heading either to Clear Lake or all the way to the Dam Jam depending on the wind. Is there a location that the kiter's should ride from so not to interfere with the windsurfing ?

Hey Rob,
Seth (BBaddict) and I will be there to kite, and keep ourselves amused.
We are camping in spot D117 if you want to say hi, going down at the crack of dawn on Saturday morning, back Sunday afternoon.
I'm bringing my 7mm wetsuit and hoping its not too cold, but I think sheer determination to get riding will keep me from freezing solid :)
Katie was thinking about going too, not confirmed yet though.

There will be kiters from Des Moines there also.
there are plenty of places to kite either at saylorville or big creek (which connects with saylorville).
Michelle, you will be plenty warm in a 7mm wetsuit. the temps are supposed to be in the low 70's. I was in a 3/2 wet suit over 3 weeks ago at big creek and was plenty warm sans hoodie, gloves and boots. :D
See you this weekend.
