Mountain boarding locations

Post by BBAddict »

So, in my impatience with the lack of snow/ice and lack of a drysuit, I bought a mountain board to allow me to kite in the next couple weeks. I can't say I highly recommend it after a rough session yesterday! I cam away with way more bumps and bruises in one day on land yesterday than I've gotten over my first winter riding and a long weekend at SPI last weekend, but it's something new and fun. How many other mountain boarders are out there and what has been your best bet in efforts to find places to ride? Finding open area without wind shadows and sufficiently smooth surface is frustrating.

Maybe I should just go buy a drysuit!

A couple of years ago We were able to hit up some sod fields near Aitkin. It was gorgeous. smooth wind and super cush sod. The going was a little slow due to the four inches of tick sod, but the landing were so soft. All deap peat under the sod. Since then I havn't gotten out on the land board, and would consider selling it. I just enjoy the water too much. The key we found is to really tighten up the truck so it is hard to get it to stear, and air up those tires hard to keep the ground resistance down.
