Pepin open water

Post by Gust User »

Anyone looking kite the open water on pepin, look out. The latest wind whipped the remaining ice up. There is a ton of floating and partially submerged large ice cubes. There are also some huge piles of ice that were blown together. There was a litteral 'berg' at the marina point that was 2 stories high!!! Wouldn't want to hit that when it finally breaks free. Might make a sweet ramp for some of you really crazy individuals!

Yep, the ice breaker barge came through on Thursday. I was standing on the point when the ice started to ramp up from it passing. Really cool! I do believe the lake is wide open for sailing from the Hok-Si-La boat ramp (N wind) or the rest area north of Lake City (S wind).
