I have a Spleene Door 154 for light wind and I'm now looking to upgrade my smaller board.
I was looking at the Spleene RIP series (128/9 or 134). Does anyone have any recommendations or comments on the smaller Spleene boards? I weigh in at 160lbs and using T2's (9/11/14).
I bought the 138 rip last spring and put wake board boots on it. love it. The speed and control is great, especially in chop, which is our conditions in minnesota. The flex is just right. This year the went to the 134 but I think they changed very little. I used to weight about the same as you do and think my board is perfect.
With a 14 meter vegas I was able to get out on that board on mille laks in about 12 mph wind. Under that and I was riding a home made skim board. The shallow rocker really lets that board go in light wind, but when you really get powered, the flex causes the board to bend a little, slowing it down, exacally what you want. I've never liked another board as much as I like that board.
That being said, I really want to try out the new lunacy from slingshot, especailly with bindings, that would be a blast. It's a little shorter, and stiffer, a more wakestyle board.
Depends on what you want. Speed and control is what the rips are all about. I was aout of control fast at the crossing, but only wiped out once. Great board, bommer construction. If your going to Padre, I'm sure Jeff would let you demo one if you were serious about buying it. All I can say is bindings are the bomb, everyone should try it. Rip it up.
