How are the weeds on Waconia?

Post by Timwalker »

Thinking of either Waconia, or Mille Lacs. Waconia would be preferred, as this is closer, and I can have my wife/windsurf partner join me. I got a feeling its pretty thick out there. Anyone know?

The weeds really are not that bad! I was out there last week and only hooked a couple small ones (10" wave fin).

Waconia Weeds

Post by Chris »

Some days the weeds at Waconia are bad and some days they are really bad. The wind has been blowing the same direction for a few days. So the weeds are not really bad -- just bad. You will probably catch a bunch (one every 20 yards) near shore (within 50 yards of shore) and then not to many (one every 100 yards) if you stay away from shore (over 100 yards away).

Unrelated, but I was thinking about coming over to waconia around 2 today. Is a wakeboard good enough to get me going or do i need to grab a directional board?
