Self Landing technique for bows

I've tried this technique the last few days in a row and it's worked well in light winds. It's great if you have your leash set up in suicide mode and not hooked to a flagging ring:

Worked like a champ in very light winds today out on WBL wind 10-12 with a WarooPro 13. I think I will be using this method in winds under 20, I like it.

I was shocked I was thinking this was some sort of CAB magic.

He DID say,"true bow kite," but I still want to try it on my waroo! I still think you could have a front'line leash attached and do the same thing. I think I'll need a deeper snow cushion, or some nice warm tropical water.

Wait.. Im pretty new to kiting (especially to inflatables, I just bought a new SS Turbo to add to my foil), but this is pretty much how I have been self landing thus far.

How do you normally do it? Or should I say normally used to do it?

I believe kingsley at xtremebigair.com talked about this technique in 2006 with the waroos when you need to unravel after an invert (unhook and bring control bar through lines). I tried it once in higher winds and it didn't work and never tried it again. but sure looks slick in the vid

The 'normal' procedure was to bring it out to the edge of the window right along the ground/water. As it runs out of power, pull in the upper center line to cause it to tip over on to the leading edge, nose into the wind.

Although I like the fool proof appearance of what this guy is demonstrating, it doesn't look to be as gentle on the kite as the 'normal' method of self landing. I think in gusty conditions, I would prefer using it over the 'normal' method which can get a bit sketchy.

Just my impressions for now. I'll have to try it out. It's great to be aware of more options.

What about the other method discussed in these threads?
Connect a ring to one of the front lines (do most bows come this way?)
When you rig the kite, make sure the ring line is attached to the side of the kite that will be facing up when you land.
Attach your leash to the ring and pull in to land the kite.

Is this a good method? Is there any advantage over pulling on both front lines?
