South padre?

Post by jeff1 »

I'm considering a trip to warmer weather near the end of april, and looking at South Padre.

Just wondering if anyone had some first hand info?

Thanks for any input,

Many Minnesotans go down at least once a year. Check the Destinations page for details. Also do a search on this forum, you'll get a lot of reports from down there.

We take an trip down twice a year.

My wife may join me in Padre this spring, but she needs to get her vacation time scheduled soon, anyone have some tentative dates they plan on heading down?

Thanks for the info Tighe, we hope to hook up with you guys while we are down there. But my wife wants to bring the dog so I think we will be driving down.

When will you be in Padre? We are tenatively leaving on the 18th and returning on May 4th.

Is the Laquinta the place to stay? My wife has just started snowkiting and will be attempting kitesurfing for the first time, so I'm thinking the bayside is where we will spend most of our time.

Thanks again,
Jeff

La Quita nice but in reality padres so small all hotels will work.
Nancy and I will be there the 2nd and 3rd week of April.
There's probably 30 people on Lakawa who'll be there some time in April.
Padre is definitly the place for your wife to learn how to water kite, no where better
Don't go down there thinking padres a beautiful resort location, it's not the most gorgeous place. It's just brilliant for kiting. April will be 85 to 95 degrees with nice breezes fairly consistantly. It usually averages 80% kite days or better.

Spoken like a true "Ski-Jourer!" As in, "Darn, I think I forgot my raincoat in the igloo, Axel! Hilda said it looks like a downpour fer sure. Maybe I can borrow one from the dog...Oh, you mean THAT raincoat."

Padre is great for kiteboarding!

Where else can you roll out of bed at 6:30am and be on the WARM (well, in Spring it is) an be riding on the water at 2:30pm the same day!

I am planning a short 4 day "save my sanity" trip in April again.

Rock on
