TUESDAY KITING
Moderator: MK
I'm not waiting till tomorrow.... If conditions are good on the Bear I plan on being out there tonight by 10 pm (wind willing) with my blinky lights and head lamp.
If it's NNE I'll probably launch from Randy's (if that's ok???? - RandyL) It's a nice spot since you get the added bonus of street lighting from South Shore Blvd.

Lessons?
Kurt, Have you considered lessons? Tighe is a talented teacher & can have you up and riding in short order. It is worth every $ to get past the rough patch and on to enjoyment. I tried the self-taught approach, but didn't really advance without some lessons. Give it a shot, you won't regret it!

Going to Kiteisland
The usual suspects (Tonka Boyz) will be out at Kite island on mtka. The grill will be hot and the beverages flowing and the wind blowin'.

Well that little bit of snow we got did the trick. This afternoon I spent about 4 hours cruiseing WBL from ramsey area I didn't see any other kites except when I first got there someone was flying out by the rocks. I had a blast I was able to go anywhere I wanted I kept venturing further and further away from my vehicle. well all good things have to end so I packed things and headed to a friends . The plans we had fell through so as I was heading home I stopped at Calhoun a couple kites were out there so I joined them . The person I wound up talking with John it was his first night at calhoun and he had just taken a lesson from Tighe he was cruising all over and he said he had a blast .So Tighe must be doing a good job . Well good to meet you John Keep having fun and I'm sure We'll see each other again.

Kurt, sorry but I must have missed you. We ended up getting there a little late and by the time my kite was up it was dark and I couldnt tell what others were riding. The wind was a little sketchy but it was still a good night. I still cant get over how lit up that lake is.
It was nice to meet newcomer John as well. He looked well above his second time out....Maybe the "Tighe factor" played a role...or maybe the help of the T2...or maybe John just has mad skillz. Probably a little of it all.

It was about 6:30 when I packed up my second kite. I also learned a ton from Jeff. Thanks again for the pointers on wind/kite control. I knew getting into the sport i would love it and don't regret buying "more advanced" kites. I will say that I should have launched my 16 meter a tad farther away from shore than I did. Those trees got a tad too close for comfort!

Hey, this is "newcomer Jon" from Tuesday night on Calhoun...Tues was my first time out since the clinic with Tighe and it was a blast! It was great meeting everybody who was out that night - and thanks to Adam for helping me get all my lines straight and launch the new t2 for the first time. Hope to meet more local kiters and ride with you guys again soon.
