Ride for Terry Volunteers Wanted

We still need some riders to volunteer to mark off some courses on lakes for riders who are riding for Terry next weekend (Feb. 2nd and 3rd). Scuba Center is giving away some great prizes to the riders who log the best mileage over the weekend. We will post the totals here to see who the iron riders are. Less than one week to get pledges.

If you want to help by being a site volunteer, all you need to do is post here where you will be and when. On the day of the event bring a couple of cones or other visible markers to your spot and spread them out at a designated distance so that anyone who shows up can keep track of their mileage.

If you have your own GPS, then just track your mileage for the weekend.

I have a gps so I can mark a course... not quite sure where I will be though.

probably waconia or kite island

I have a GPS if anyone wants to use it. Still can't thank everyone enough

My guess is if there is any wind at all we will have plenty of "volunteers" at Kite Island! I will plan to bring some cones to help mark distances though.

A GPS could be used to set the cones, also maybe just a car odometer would work?

Also, if people are unable to ride around markers for whatever reason, it seems like a reasonable substitute might be timing your ride? 10 miles per hour is probably pretty conservative for even just cruising slow... I would guess 15 miles per hour for powered up riding and even 20 miles for really cranking based on the last kite crossing times?

I can help set up a course on Medicine Lake.

Too bad we can't be clocking miles today.

They would add up FAST.

What is the plan if our kites won't stay in the air this weekend?

I'm not going to be able to make it but I have a 2007 NWT Ripcurl wetsuit I would like to donate. Anyone know where or who I can drop it off with?

Brian, send Terry an email. It is on the page for the event. They are putting together an auction and banquet later this month.

Barry, if the wind is looking poor, I will announce that the Ride for Terry will be postponed until the next weekend. I will post on Friday. Your services will be appreciated at Medicine.

Thanks also to Stroh and Mark for covering Kite Island and maybe Waconia. I may volunteer for Cannon since it sounds like there is some snow to the south falling today.

We could still use volunteers for Mille Lacs and other lakes outside the metro.
