Diamond Lake looks good

Post by Jeff A »

I just got back from checking out Diamond Lake in the Dayton/Rogers area. There's 6" of powder on top of 6+" of ice. Near the public access there is a small slushy area where there is a layer of water between 2 layers of ice. It looks like it froze early then broke up a little then froze again. My 6' ice screw didn't go all the way through anywhere that I checked.

I think it would be a great place for this weekend, except the wind is looking pretty wimpy. Maybe next week.
