Is east or east -NE as good as NE ?
Does it make it even easier to get out because it is more side shore wind or is the shorebreak still get big?

It's lookin like a classic nuker at park point. Those waves are going to be huge by noon tomorrow. Kevin, Stroh is right, these forcasts always turn into straight onshore winds at park point. It has somthing to do with the shape of the lake and tha way the wind get funneled down the show lines I think. Should be an epic day. Unfortunately, I've got to work :( . Have fun.

Wind direction

Post by Randy »

In my experience, the sweet spot direction is 040-060. If it's too north, wind near the bridge is light and you have to work out to the airport to get the stronger wind, sometimes 20mph more. If it's 070-090 it's coming pretty much straight in and you loose your port advantage for getting out. If it's big and you're on a windsurfer, you might as well resign yourself to playing the waves on the inside. It's hell to break out, and if you do the waves collapse randomly, are mushy, and if big, do a pretty good job of beating you up. Certainly, a kiter has the advantage in popping over a disorganized wave. Chip, you're the master on this stuff. Feel free to add to or correct as necessary.

Looks like I'm heading out around 7am and can take a passenger pick up at the Wyoming I35 entrance. The glitch is that I absolutely have to leave by 2:30. I'm planning on launching from 22nd st.
