I've seen a few kiteboards out on the lakes that have been modified with what looks to be an extended handle. Is this mod designed to help getting into the straps for waterstarts or is there a deeper reason?
Does this mod help?
Bill: I took the "Hard Loop" off an old bar and attached each end to the inside of the footstraps. It gives me something to grab that's a little easier to reach than the grab handle & I can really pull the footstraps tightly over my booties. I used it alot when I was beginning, but now mostly just place one foot at a time into the straps. Check out my boards next time and try it out. Jim N.
What started out for me as a quickly improvised replacement for a handle for a board that came without one (the beloved redline 122) has become my preferred handle type. I take a loop of thread-reinforced polyethylene tubing (the kind that the sprayer on your sink is attached to) and screw it down to the board where the normal handle goes. It looks homemade, but it gives you an edge on board retrieval in deep water.
