Everybody have fun today.

Everybody wang chung today – except me. I don’t know what hurts more, the tattoo I got yesterday or not being able to be on the water today. Several years ago, I had lasik eye surgery and I went windsurfing the next day – at Cannon! Am I older and wiser or am I older wussy-err?

I only got about 90 minutes yesterday at Waconia, but it ruled. Who can say enough good things about 25-30+ WSW at that lake. I got a chance to bust out the old 'roo 12m and have a blast. Something about the time limitation made it all the more precious. THanks Nate for the board rescue. I must be doing something wrong, 'cuz I'm like, 0-3 on that recently. Is it the huge life vest I'm wearing? Also, I've decided to wear a helmet more, as I hit the water with my head yesterday so hard that it ached, and I was wearing a helmet. Can you believe fall winds, with 75-80 temps out? I would be curious to hear from the veteran windsurfers out there how common that is.

For the first time I started really enjoying toe-side riding. Mostly it's been a chore that I force myself to do, but yesterday it became fun, with knees bent I was carving up and down them rollers, and I could hear a faint whisper of Dick Dale as I pretended to be a real surfer. Next will be the launch from toe-side.

It was so wrong, to be leaving the lake as it was crescendoing to a mind-bending wall of wind in the upper twenties to 30+ Later NWS charts revealed it blowing strong until 7 or 8 pm.
