Rev 11 Demo: Thank You!

Post by chanrider »

Took the Rev 11 out at the Wack today… not really enuf wind for this size kite, but got some feel for its handling characteristics. As a TD1 guy, this kite seemed more stable and forgiving, not quite as “precise” which I personally think is a good thing. You can be a little more sloppy and the kite will not call you on it like the TD1.

Very light bar pressure and excellent bar set up. The leash system below the bar is really nice! I would love to try this kite in a little more wind… thanks Tighe!

Weird wind at Waconia. WWW. It fluctuated in such a way as to frustrate efforts to harness it for much of the day, and yet, for a couple of hours it was consistent enough to enjoy. Think of it like wind that was 50% on, 50% off, varying in about 3 minute intervals. You'd be ripping along, powered, then it would drop down to 5-8 mph, just enough to keep your kite barely in the sky, for several minutes. Then another 3 minutes of juicy push, followed by more lull. The juicy parts got longer and longer as the day wore on, the pauses shorter and shorter, until it was possible, around 5:00 or so to get some nice upwind travel and a few jumps here and there. it was so inconsistent at times, that at one point 3 experienced kiters came in from the walk of shame together. It was pretty much assumed people were doing a down winder when they launched. Very weird.

Yet I think good times were had by all. Nice to meet some people new to me - Shane, Brian, Mark anonymous guy with Torch, etc. And good to see the regulars out, of course. Mark, don't worry, you won't always be that cold.

Thanks for landings, launches, camraderie and all that goes into a Saturday, with sun, at the lake. Thanks for the transportation, "Lake Bug"

So what happened at Mille Lacs?

It's days like that that make me want to pull what little hair I have left out. :) I'm looking to try a Rev very interested in one. I would need like a 15 though. I hear alot of good things about it.

Ya, the wack was a little flukey. Got stuck in the hole til I got boat (ski) relief. Thanks again Tighe!

Still a great "fall" day, regardless. Water was cold as a MOFO in a wetty!

Fingers crossed for wind for the Ottertail outing!

Hope all had good rides. Repeat of Dave's ?: how was milly?

As a newbie to water kiting, I just wanted to say thanks to David for giving advice and helping to launch/relaunch me and also definitely to Tighe for the advice and the jetski ride (sorry for not making better use of it). Also to Mark and a couple other people who gave some good info about gear, places to ride, and just the sport in general. It's really cool to be part of a sport where people are so willing to help each other out.

Thanks, and hope to see you guys out again soon.
