Missing Gear?
Drove by the Tot Lot at 6:30 this morning - there was a full windsurfer rig still laying by the sign. Who's missing one? I picked it up.....
wow what a day! I got to 22nd street a 7:30 yesterday. I stared at the break from the top of the dunes far a litle while. it is kinda intimidating when you are by your self. then at 8:00 people started to show up.
I rode my surfboard in the waves with my 14.5 for most of the day. untill arround 2:00 I was about 3 miles down the shore when my safty let go out of nowhere... I must have bumped it or something. I was soo powered I could barley hold on. I thought about droping the kite in the water but I knew the waves would destroy the kite so I decided the shore would be a good spot. well it turned out to be a horriable spot it was so covered in logs and debree that there was nowwhere I could drop it and it was too late to go for a water landing. so the dunes became my target. only there was one problem.... the normal bowkite safety. I cant doo much to get it directly down wind from me. so I tried to pull the ohshit handle on a stering line.. doesn't work just puts the kite into a powered death roll. I had to disconect my leash then grab the ohshit handle. the kite started to spirial and drag me up onto the beach I could see a tree about 10ft further down wind.
. I got it to crash right before the tree but it still poped. it landed in a small bush and put a 1 inch hole in the LE. then for a LOOOOONNNGGGG walk back. luckly the wind came up above 20 about an hour later and I was able to rip arround on my 10 untill 6:30.
I think I made the right choice I saw another kite get the cannopy riped wide open from the LE through to the TE..... those waves are no joke
I probibly rode for 8 hours yesterday WOW can I feel it today. just got done fixing the 14 so I am reddy and waiting for more.
I think I am going to start trying out westerly winds up the the WI point

Missed it again!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't begin to tell you how frustrating it is to be at work and now you all are out there. You boys in the metro think it stinks hearing about what your missing.Try knowing it's windy and watching the kites and sails from the window at work, that is the ultimate tease. Randy, you mentioned the wind obsession a few posts ago, watching you guys from work..............it fills me with a need so great no drug can cure. Wind addiction, it's consuming. I NEED A WAVE SESSION, NEEEEEEEEEEEED!
missing rig
The missing owner of the rig I found has been identified - and returned...
Passion.
Ben, I definitely relate to your post and am sure Dave Knight, Tighe, Chip and all others on the injured list or 'simply can't go' list also feel the pain of not getting the nourishment a good terrain session gives.
It was fun arriving Tuesday at 11 and seeing the satisfied looks on the faces of Mike W., Kurt, Terry and Stroh....all had been riding since 8am.
Terry and Stroh rode damn near a full twelve hour session.... I only kited for around three and windsurfed for two and am still nursing a sore body, but the soul nourishment was sooooo good.
I still carry vivid memories of Stroh, Terry and Judd playing the waves like the pros they are...very, very fluid. I wish I could have captured Judd on a monster wave, smooth, drawn out, and begging for his carving style. Terryn D. had a hard day equipment wise, but I'm sure believes it was worth every penny for the repairs. Actually, it's been so great to see Terry D. and Jim N. moving deeper and deeper into terrain play.
Chris, I had the yellow kite and had to wait 'til closer to 4pm to get out with my windsurfer. I saw you skyin' and ridin' hard. Jeff, hope the knee is healing up good.
We had a great day, shared memories at Fitgers, drove by the Wilco concert, leaving the fog of Duluth with sweet dreams that last a lifetime.

Anyway, late on this post because the body's been in dire need of recovery. But, as Stoh has said, tomorrow afternoon and Sunday morning have great "posse ability". Ben, really want to see you in the posse.
