Please tell me

Post by Tighe »

Please tell me someone got out and enjoyed that 20-25 mph wind and beautiful skys this afternoon.

I was driving north at about 2:30 and the wind started to pick up. It blew from 3-6pm. I was on a lake with onshore winds, playing in the water with my daughter, whitecaps hitting our cheeks, white pines swaying nearby.

Someone please tell me you rode those winds.

Hitch-swimming

Post by Denis »

I was stuck in a meeting watching the unexpected wind pick up. Finally, I had enough of it and bolted out. Don't remember the excuse I gave.

I arrived at White bear around 5:30, just enough to squeeze a small session before the wind died. It was awesome. Great temperature, sunny skies, enough wind to jump, and even friendly boats to go fetch my board when I crash.

When the wind died and my kite fell out of the sky and I was setting up for a loooong swim back. Suddenly comes a boat around me with Joe and Anna L! They offer to give me a ride back to shore. That about cut 2 hours out of my commute back.

Got to meet Pete, a new kiter out there. Hoping to see you off that pole board soon, Pete. :D Thanks everyone for the board pickups, the rides and the smiles.

I got out on the B5 and the Coyote blades anyway. Just enough wind for some little jumps.

Windsurfing is fun too!

It was “rippin” (as Minnesota rippin’ goes) at the Bear yesterday through 7:00! It was a nice westerly 7.5 or a 9.0 downhauled like a snare drum out of Bellaire!!!

…amazing when a 9.0 day makes the board!!!

...nice to meet you too Denis!

You were tearing it up on the Bear yesterday looking like a pro! I thought the pontoon spectators were going to ask for your autograph after your session!!!

Keep it up! - Peter

take care of yourself, moondawg.

Since my last trip to Waconia was probably the last time I'll bump into you for a while, I wish you well on your move and knee surgery.

You're a great guy - "salt of the earth" is probably the phrase I'm looking for. :-)

And, thanks again for all the help with my board search last fall!

I was out at Byllesby, all alone, 7.5 nicely powered. Playing in the sunset with the water. It's filled with little tiny weeds (there's not enough in the way of nutrients there to grow those giant Waconia/WBL specimens).

Full-on thermal day at Forest Lake

Post by Randy »

The sun and clouds played a 15 mph disparity. Fortunately, the gusts were extended at about 10 minutes, but windspeeds were 5-20mph throughout most of the day. Kiting up here would have required some helium. Sounds like Bellaire and Byllesby were the call.
We'll be thinking of you Moondawg...always enjoyed your posts. I think most of us have had some down time, but it usually just brings us back hungrier for more. Good luck with it.
