Moose Regatta in Canada!

Post by Woody »

Time to dust off your sails and boards because it's only 4 weeks until the 4th Annual Moose Regatta! The Northwest Ontario Windsurfing Club (N.O.W.) along with Fleet8 welcome you to Dryden, Ontario Canada. Our “Wilderness City” is located in beautiful Sunset Country in the heart of Canada.

The Moose Regatta is a fun filled event with focus on our entry level sailors, but still challenging enough for those who want to test their skills against some of the best sailors in the Midwest USA and Central Canada. Along with course racing, this years regatta will include a race around Picnic Island. Fun is what we're all about, and we encourage our kiter friends to also attend this event. There is a beautiful sand beach 200m from the event site for kiter's to launch from. “Flat Rock Beach” is good in almost all wind directions.

The 2007 Moose Regatta will be held at Sandy Beach Park on Wabigoon Lake. Sandy Beach will be the ideal location for beginners and spectators. With an overlooking view of the lake, grassy rigging area, large sand beach, children's play center, huge outdoor BBQ shelter, walking trails and a 9 hole golf course 100m from the event site, there will be something for the whole family to do. So make plans for this June 29 – July 1, 2007 to attend the largest Windsurfing Regatta in central Canada!

Along with being a MOWIND point scored event, the 2007 Moose Regatta will also be The Western Ontario Championships as sanctioned by Windsurfing Canada.

Woody,

Looking forward to a great event up in Canada!

I wanted to see if anyone was interested in carpooling up to the event. I have already talked to Uffe about it and perhaps we could reduce the number of vehicles driving up and save some gas!

I believe Uffe is leaving Thursday and returning the following Wednesday.

I am hoping to leave in the early afternoon Friday and head back on Monday to the Twin Cities.

Anyone else who is going, and is interested in carpooling, just throw in the times you are planning to leave and return.

Hello fellow windsurfers and kiters, yes, there are several of us going from Iowa up to the "Moose Regatta". At this point at least 4-5 people are going from Des Moines, IA. I will be driving through the cities on Thursday or Friday (might cut the drive in two and stay over night in the cities). I am planning on coming back Wednesday 4th of July.

For those of you who have not attended the Moose Regatta, I can assure you that it is one of the coolest windsurfing events ever ran by one of the coolest guy ever. Lots of good fun at an awesome place. For those of you who like to Kite it is a great big lake with room for both.

Make plans w/ carpools and let's head up to Canada for the Moose regatta if you like playing in the wind and having a good time with a bunch of wind junkies...
