Post by matt k »

The north end of George will be going off tommorow, me and Nate Dogg checked it out today and will be riding tommorow around 3:00

Large sandy beach grass rigging shallow, great spot

South winds lining up nicely it will be epic be there or be square

10 West to round lake blvd, round lake blvd north until you hit lake george park.

Jeez, that place is no more then 15 minutes from my house. If its decent, that would be sick.

Also to note....There is major contruction on 10 west at Hanson. They took out the bridge and are putting in a new one in. Traffic gets back WAY up after 2pm untill about 8pm. You may want to avoid 10 west past Foley if you can. I live off of hanson by Bunker Hills.

Here is the route I would recommend http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=964884

details on Lake Goerge ? Good for beginers ? how shallow ?

Post by RobH »

Glad to see another lake pop up thats close - Any more details on the lake itself - good for beginers and self rescue ? docks and tree's ? How far out do the shallows run and do they run all along the shore if riding southerly winds ?

Thanks for the info

It's shallow all around the shore in the north part of the lake, probably 3/4 of a block. It does have trees along the shore. There are a few docks in the northeast corner. I think it is a great place because of the shallow waters and very very few boats.

Maximillio how is the dnr launch me and nate checked out the beach yesterday and the wind was a very gusty but we still had a great session, and both came in and claimed our biggest air times.

The beach will work best on a southeast or east wind sw was coming from a smaller fetch creating some hairy gusty conditions with large holes, but on the plus side the beach is amazing tons of sand and grass rigging shallow for drift launching very few docks and boats, summer will get more crowded,

Overall great place to kite and close to my house, will hit it again on the right direction.

That Beach is Sick!!! could get really crowded with bikinis tho so on crowded days be careful, but otherwise that place will be perfect as matt
stated for a east, southeast , other directoins will work just will be gusty.
Id say the beach has awesome rigging beach and grass, and then the shallows are forever a good four kite lenghts out if not more and as long as a football field... Definatly hitting it up on sunday!!

What a pleasant afternoon at Lake George today! Really light wind but the big 16TD and 59 Door sort of got 'er done for a while 'til I put the kite down in sudden lull and drifted to shore. :(

But the wind came up on my hike back so rides were had and it was definitely worth checking out this nice launch :D

Nice to meet Max, Saul, Mike K and see Dean R, Nate Dogg, Matt K. The crew even hooked me up with a free brat so I had plenny energy for the sesh and stroll afterward... thanks!! :D

Let's all keep looking for more lakes cuz there has to be more and this one is a jewel, although like Matt said prolly not safe on warm sunny days due to civilians enjoying the nice beach. Here's a couple pics of the beach...

By the way a Carver County Parks sticker for the Wack city beach works at some other county parks like this one in Anoka 8)

What a great spot!! It was fun meeting Max, Saul, Jane, and Katrina , I hope I got that right. It was fun seeing the familiar faces of Nate, Matt, Mark, Mike and and watching everyone play in very light air. With the warming weather I think we will be seeing another female rider joining our ranks. Thanks for bringing Mr. and Mrs Brat :D and your infectious enthusiasm for our shared passion.
