Thursday Wind

Post by Barry P »

Hey, where is everyone? :?

Looks like we'll have pretty good wind just able anywhere in Minnesota tomorrow. A few showers, but not much for thunderstorms (so far).

Things are even looking pretty good for considering Mille Lacs again... 15-20 or 15-25 NW or WNW with showers depending on which forecast you look at.

What's the plan?

Since I'm working in River Falls, WI these days Mille Lacs is a bit far during the week. Experimental looks good for possibley Byllesby if it's straight West. Otherwise Lake City or Pepin, WI might be good too. Pepin seems to behave like less of a suck-hole on W or NW than on SE'erlies :D Anyone thinking about riding Pepin?

Mr. Z, I'm thinking of starting at Byllesby and may move over to either Lake City or Pepin WI depending on the conditions. Fell free to call me for an update.

Stan and I are going to go to Bellaire at about 11:00 A. M. It is calling for WNW winds of 15 to 25 with some gusts over 30. Why chase wind, when we have wind in our own back yard.

I decided to go up to Mille Lacs for the afternoon. I decided to leave wind to find waves... I hoped.

Last Friday I had so much fun on the waves at Green. Jumping was so easy. I'd never landed so well and consitently. Sailing out of nearly every one. I wanted more.

Even though the wind was too westerly for Father Hennipen to be really good (as I've read) I decided to go there anyway. Even imperfect waves are welcome in my book. Wow. Chest high swells. I kind of got waxed again, but I like getting stretched like that. I think I learned some good things. I sure would like to be able to spend a whole day figuring out how to deal with conditions like that. I had a lot of fun, even though I think I need to chalk one up for the lake again... but when I was up & flying, and skying... Oh it was good. Gotta do it again.
