Don't put away that snowkite gear

Post by Eric P »

I'ts snowing, Hard, up here in the Milly area. They are forcasting NW winds all weekend and I'd guess we have a good 10 inches on the ground right now. The temps are going to freeze back up the slush on the surface and could provide some good condions this weekend. I'm going to try it tomorrow night after work at Malmo. I'd rather stay over the shallower areas incase I fall in and get wet. I'll post up a review of the surface to all you city folk. Looks good right now, but the roads are absolutely horrible.

I'm going to try it soon. It's really blowing, thank "The flying spagetii monster" for Anna's 9 meter. Should be fun. The temp really droped overnight and made everything really bonded. Looks like great wind all weekend.

Yeah - let us know! The wife and kids are heading to the inlaws all weekend so I'll be free to come up to Mille if the ice/snow is doable.

That was epic. The snow must have fallen with some serious wind blowin. Lots of drifts, but very few bare patches. The ice is totally safe and will only get more so. I was able to launch out of a public boat launch on the east shore about two miles north of Isle. It was perfect, about a mile south of big point, so the wind was ok for the launch. Then I rode out a ways and found the good stuff. Perfectly consistent wind at 25 mph, at least. The only problem I had was fear. No partner, so I was really scared to try anything crazy.

Down wind runs are really fun with that new waroo. It sets back in the window so well. I was just carving turns on long down wind runs, then just setting that edge and rocketing up wind in that consistent power. Lots of fun for an after work treat.

Like I said in the title, don't abandon the winter season just yet. This weekend could be great. Hope to see you guys up here.

Hey Eric!

Are you planning to be around for the whole weekend?
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up,totally worn out and loudly proclaiming. WOW! What a ride!!

Yea, sure. I'll do another after work session. Do you know the boat launch I was talking about. I think it's the only really safe place to get out on the east side with legal access. Meet you there when I get off.

Have fun on milly!

Ok Eric!

I scraped the skis and plan to be up there by around 10-11am tomorrow. What land marks should I look for to get to the public launch you were talking about?

Anybody else heading up for a last hard water session?

Go through Isle and head north on 47. The houses will be solid on the left side until you get to the DRN land that the launch is on. On the north end of that unused lakeshore land is the unplowed public launch. Big brown sign. Hard to miss. See you there.
