Green was a blast!

Post by Timwalker »

A whole crowd of folks showed up at Green today! Connie and I, Jerry, Chris, Scott, Mike, Geoff, Eric, etc, and Anne from Willmar, were at the NE Park/Launch. Nice strong south wind blew from 1-5PM! I was on a 6.5M with a 120lt board, but normal sized sailors were in the 5.5-6.0 Range.
I was planiing about 90% of the time, and at least 10-20% OVERPOWERED!! Had a super long jump in one of the bigger gust sections! What a air ride! Max speed of 32.9MPH, about 3 hrs riding time, and about 40 miles of distance! With the S wind direction today, you get to run the long way on the lake, about 2 miles each reach!! Plenty of time to set up on a ramp or two!
Very fun day! I even had the Helmet Cam on my head for the first session! I failed to supply a freshly charged battery, and missed some nice shots, but did manage a couple pics and a couple videos, check 'em out on my website. http://www.downhaul.com/users/timewalks/index.html
Just scroll down to the 'Minnesota' section, and click on the small thumbnail to get a huge 1280x1024 picture, or the AVI video. (Might need broadband for the videos.)
Looks like wind here tommorrow afternoon?!?!? Could it be? I'd be glad to try Waconia![/url]

It was great sailing with the crew at Green. I started out with a great 12m kite session and then switched over to 5.5 windsurfing. Thanks for the launch, Jerry! There is something magical about that place. Only saw a handful of powerboats all day. Well worth the trip.
