Colorado Kiting!

Post by shera »

Heading to Winter Park next week and they have snow! Anyone know of kiting locations aka fields by Winter Park? Dillon Lake is 1.5 hours away so it would be nice to find something closer!

Lake Dillon

Hey Leah,

I was out in Summit Co about three weeks ago. There's a great shop in the town of Frisco called Colorado Kite Force that can give you the beta on the area. They have a website that's just their name, plus the w's and the .com. As for Lake Dillon, I wasn't that impressed. The views are pretty, but the winds are kind of gusty. There is a Kite Park there, but it was just a coned-off launch area and one kicker. It's not a bad place to kite, but I don't think I'd drive there from WP unless I was desperate. Also, call the shop to check ice thickness before you go. It's a resevoir that seems to freeze later and thaw earlier than the lakes around here.

Good luck and have fun,

Bryan
