Travel concern

Post by Coach »

I never thought I'd be worried about this, but I'm wondering about getting to the Crossing tomorrow... I can't leave until early tomorrow morning, but I have a feeling the drive is going to be either terribly frightening or painfully slow.

Extra-bummer points: I have to drive back tomorrow night for a get-together... all-in-all, that could lead to about 6-8 hours in the car, assuming I'll be going about half-speed up and back - maybe less.

Is anyone else suffering a similar dilemma?

Coach,

I can't make it to the Crossing, so I can't help you with logistical decisions but for the people driving home Sunday it could be a nightmare. The storm will be worse from Mill Lacs south. Who knows what will happen, but it's looking like a major storm. Should be great fun up there, it's the driving that could be a little dicey. 4x4 is going to be a big plus this weekend.

Good luck & drive safe everyone!

Mark, exactly my situation. I am bummed too. What makes it worse it that I got out of bed this morning and felt very weak, which really sucks because I intended to go to WBL this afternoon and thoroughly destroy your top speed run

Maybe we will see you out there at Da Bear tomorrow for some fun in the fresh snow.

Feeling healthy here (famous last words). I also can't make it regardless of the weather. If we get the goods (snow) it's gonna be epic tomorrow - Bellaire (E) or Ramsey (SE)? Might have to bring a shovel and build a kicker!

Yeah...It ain't lookin good for me neither. Hopefully the kiter community can have an impromptu gathering before Spring really hits...it'd be good to jam with the tribe again.

Good luck to everyone this weekend!

Damn, Mike - thanks for reminding me. I forgot to bring my stuff and go for some speed runs this afternoon! Doh!

I'm expecting my current standing to be busted sometime soon. The last few years, speeds in the 60's have been no problem.

p.s. Ramsey tomorrow, baby... Unless I'm feeling super-crazy enough to drive north.

You guys are losers. I can understand other commitments, etc, but deciding to not make the trip because of the weather???. THEN leave now!!!!!!!! Sure the roads are going to suck but we're in fricking Minnesota what'd you expect?

Coach you have the hottest 4x4 known to man sitting in your garage. You have no excuse.

Don't worry there will be plenty of photos, reports and stories for you guys to all read and weep on Monday.

Make it happen.

Tighe, it would be nice to spend as much time as possible with my almost 2-year-old child, especially since he's heading to Japan for a month without me... (You insensitive clod... :-P hah!)

BTW - looking out my window in WBL right now and the wind is RIPPING.

Regardless of where I end up tomorrow, I'll be hauling the expensive video camera along (with all-weather cover). It will be fun shooting wherever we're at.

I'll join the "loser" crowd not able to make the crossing. Family commitments prevent me from joining in the fun. My lovely bride has been gracious enough to let me out of the house every day this winter that it has been blowing for a few hours to "clean my garage". but whole day/overnight affairs are out of the question at the moment with 2 young boys at home.

I'll join my fellow losers on WBL tomorrow.

JanMarie,

Don't get the wrong idea from this thread. A little weather will not effect the wind crowd. There will be thousands of people up there. Those of us who can't make it have just found a perfect excuse to justify our lameness.

Nah Tighe you're right. Coach has become a total pussy since becoming a father.
Some would call it responsibility, growing up etc. I call it a really bad attitude. :D

I prefer the term "wussy." It makes me sound only slightly less weak.
