Wbl was great today, gusty at times but nice conditions. Starting to get the boosting thing dialed in. Thanks to Paul for help landing the kite in the gusts. can't move my legs but i'm going to try and get out in the morning again before the wind dies. anyone up for an early morning session at mahto?
Got out to mahto this am, riding by 7:30, super sweet to see the sun come up over the lake while riding. just rideable out - maybe 10-11 knots, but apparent wind was working well on the 12 td. nice quiet morning. shut down at 9 as it was getting pretty light. couple cross country skiiers for company.
Simon: way to go-Hardcore! I feel your calling!
Dave and I scored a late night session on Como Last night. rode from 830-10pm. So so session but satisfied the urge-for a short while. I'm always up for odd hour session when I can't get out during the day.
Simon, you'd be surprised how well you eyes adjust and what you can see. The city lakes seem to be fairly well lit with surrounding city lights so really not an issue. Some lakes, como for example, has path lights around the entire lake. Further, the moon helps and we are approaching one full moon currently. Cool to see a shadow of the kite created by moon light.
I was out on Calhoun until 11 last night. The cars coming down 38 on the southeast corner of the lake light it up. The headlights make shadows which gives the ground depth. I was sending it as hard as I could with confidence.

How was the wind on Calhoun? What were you on?
It was marginal at best on Como and I had to work to keep my 16m waroo up at time.
I know I sacrifice good wind at Como but it just so convient and close when I'm under time constraints-which is often
Dave Z wrote:Wind kept up today @WBL. Lots of good rides on a 16 Xbow. Couple of other guys out as well. Wind was 8-15 all afternoon.
Kurt - you should just move over here. Between the weekends and having a good head lamp for night riding I've been getting out quite a bit...
Dave. We are casually looking for homes in that area with tentative plans for moving next year. My first requirement is to be close to a big body of water if not on a lake and yet still close to the cities (within 35 miles or so). WBL is definitely on the radar. I certainly can't afford, and never will be able to afford to be on WBL itself. Also looking at lake homes just a bit further out form the cities like lindstrom, centerville, ham lake, and forest lake areas.
Sell your kites, snowboards, boots etc. In fact, give them away if you have to. Just get out of this sport. Skills are something you lack. Maybe you can buy several units of skill from one of the other guys in the community? Then, I suppose, you could continue with this kiting addiction.
You taunt better than you kite my friend. lets settle this in the air. high noon friday, kite vs kite dogfight. the last kite still flying wins. Ryan won the last dogfight at calhoun, but i showed him by tearing his kite in two like a curtain at malmo. just keep that image in your head. hand guns are optional. yeah kirst and i will come over. i guess
i will be going out at noon on friday- can you get out? also thinking sunrise on saturday, goin north by like 10. plus i wanted to get out while it was still 10 below.
